Wellington -- The capital of COLD, WIND and RAIN

We are currently in Wellington which is the capital of New Zealand and also the furthest city south of the north island. We were planning to take a 3 hour ferry ride to the south island tomorrow, but due to bad weather it looks like we will be rearranging all of our bookings. The weather here in Wellington has been real junk the entire stay. It has either been rainy and windy or just plain cold. We have been here 4 nights and looks like we will be making it another night. This city is huge but we have found not as much to do as we had hoped. If you love shopping then this is the city for you. We took a cable car ride to the top of a mountain and had a great view of the city. We walked through a botanical garden as well. Mostly we have been stuck inside reading and becoming expert pool players (Ben is...I am trying).

Last night was the worst night of weather I've ever seen. We decided to go to bed around midnight and then couldn't sleep at all. After about 45 minutes of laying in bed the real storm began which didn't help us to go to sleep. Sleeping with my ear near the window it sounded as though we were inside a car while getting a car wash with the water being sprayed full blast at the windows. I didn't know the sky had so much rain to offer. The wind and rain have yet to let up and it has been 12 hours straight. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to take a ferry to begin our journey in the south island. Though weather reports show that the next 10 days have more rain and clouds in store for us. This will be an interesting next week and a half. More updates to come but as of now we are getting cabin fever with another day stuck inside.
